We are very excited to announce that we will be one of many local artisans appearing at the Rotherfold Artisan Market in Totnes on 26th May between 10 and 4. It’s going to be amazing. Last year we got our hands on some beautiful hops and used them judiciously in several New England style Pale Ales. The best of these (D.I.B.S and our DEYA collab Ecstasy of Gold) were ABV heavyweights, resulting in some famous hangovers! With Lacewing we’re taking all those delicious New England characteristics and delivering them in a highly session-able 2.8% ABV package. Brewed with Thomas Fawcett malted barley, wheat and oats and hopped exclusively with Ekuanot it’s available in 750ml bottles, cask and keg.
We have just released two new White Labels, ‘Brown IPA’ and ‘New England Table Saison’. Both are available from the Brewery bar in limited numbers. Here is a description of each:
Our exploration of beer styles has lead us to the little known Brown IPA, with more malt character than a straight IPA it allows a judicious hop addition whilst retaining a good balance. Ours is hopped with Centennial to 10 g/l and comes in at 5.4% ABV. Possibly our most crushable beer to date.

Today’s the day we must make the bittersweet announcement that Mathew Henney, our Head Brewer since we began New Lion, will be leaving the brewery at the end of April. He will be moving to Murphy and Son as Technical Sales Representative covering Southern England and Wales. Jacek Ziegler, currently our Second Brewer, will be taking over the reins, having joined the brewery in summer 2014 and become an exceptionally gifted brewer in his own right.
