Unveiling two new White Label Series releases

We have just released two new White Labels, ‘Brown IPA’ and ‘New England Table Saison’. Both are available from the Brewery bar in limited numbers.  Here is a description of each:

Brown IPA

Our exploration of beer styles has lead us to the little known Brown IPA, with more malt character than a straight IPA it allows a judicious hop addition whilst retaining a good balance. Ours is hopped with Centennial to 10 g/l and comes in at 5.4% ABV. Possibly our most crushable beer to date.

New England Table Saison

This beer is inspired by Dry hopped Du Pont Saison, a true ‘desert island beer’ and one […]

Mat’s off: an announcement from New Lion Brewery

Today’s the day we must make the bittersweet announcement that Mathew Henney, our Head Brewer since we began New Lion, will be leaving the brewery at the end of April. He will be moving to Murphy and Son as Technical Sales Representative covering Southern England and Wales. Jacek Ziegler, currently our Second Brewer, will be taking over the reins, having joined the brewery in summer 2014 and become an exceptionally gifted brewer in his own right.

Over the last four years, Mathew has lead the Brewery, winning Local, Regional and National awards whilst growing a loyal customer base here in […]

It’s time for your 2018 Hop Club rhizome orders!

2018 is the third year of our Hop Club. We already have around 70 growers, producing hops on their allotments, balconies or in their back gardens.  In our first year you produced 1.3kg of delicious fresh hops, and last year you grew 15kg, a 1150% increase in yield!  Hopefully you got your hands on, and enjoyed, the ‘Local Hero’ beer brewed with them.
So, it’s time to order your 2018 rhizomes.  We need your orders by Friday 23rd March before the end of the day, and then they’ll arrive by the following weekend.  The rhizomes are of a variety called ‘Primadonna’, a dwarf […]

Glowing review of our DIBS New collab beer

We recently came together with The Maltings Taphouse and Bottle Shop in Newton Abbot, Vessel in Plymouth and Hops & Crafts in Exeter to produce DIBS, which is short for ‘Devon Independent Bottle Shops’.  It was a New England Pale Ale-style beer (or, as we called it, a South West IPA), and was, if we so so ourselves, delicious.  It whipped up a storm online, nowhere more whipped up than in the kitchen of Real Ale Craft Beer, who reviews beer on YouTube.  As you’ll see, he rather liked DIBS….
